Please join us in welcoming my favorite gal pal back to Austin and a new fave to the roster.
APRIL 2008
It is with a heavy heart and mind that cannot still believe this news is true that I have to share it with you...
Roggie 4/17
Chris Gaffney - b. October 3, 1950 * d. April 17, 2008
Chris Gaffney, a beloved husband, revered entertainer, precious father, dear uncle, trusted friend, cherished brother has succumbed to liver cancer
Chris Gaffney passed away this morning, April 17, 2008 in the Orange County hospital in California with his wife Julie at his side. He suffered a fall at home last night and died in his sleep after being admitted to the hospital. Further details are unavailable at this time. Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
"Chris Gaffney grew up in Arizona, where he learned to play the accordion as a young child. The instrument would later influence the performer's mix of norteño with country and rock & roll. Gaffney eventually mastered guitar as well and spent his teen years gigging in cover and house bands. In 1977, he formed a partnership with keyboardist Wyman Reese, who also produced Gaffney's initial solo efforts. Road to Indio appeared in 1986; it featured 1950s rock, soul, and dusty Bakersfield honky tonk. Chris Gaffney & the Cold Hard Facts followed in 1990, and delved into Gaffney's Hispanic heritage. His third solo effort, Mi Vida Loca, was issued in 1992. Loser's Paradise appeared in 2003. The album was produced by blue-collar stalwart Dave Alvin and featured contributions from Lucinda Williams and Jim Lauderdale." ~ Johnny Loftus, AMG. Gaffney also recorded and toured extensively as a member of Dave Alvin & the Guilty Men. Gaffney & Alvin formed a bond of brotherhood that has been a cornerstone in each of their lives.
Gaff's most current project, The Hacienda Brothers is a collaboration between singer and songwriter Gaffney and Dave Gonzalez, best known as the guitarist, singer, and songwriter with the veteran blues-rockabilly combo the Paladins. "Longtime friends Gaffney and Gonzalez first performed together when they played an informal set for a mutual friend's birthday party in 2002; Gonzalez was impressed with the results, and as he was looking for an outlet for the country-style songs he was unable to perform with the Paladins, he proposed a more formal collaboration. Teaming up with David Berzansky on pedal steel, Hank Maninger on bass, and Dale Daniel on drums, the duo adopted the name the Hacienda Brothers, and set up a base of operations in Tucson, AZ. Gonzalez, who has a passionate interest in vintage cars, struck up a friendship with fellow gearhead Dan Penn, the legendary producer and songwriter who was a key figure in the Muscle Shoals sound, and he persuaded Penn to produce the debut Hacienda Brothers album, the eponymous Hacienda Brothers. Penn also contributed two songs to the sessions, which appeared on the group's self-titled 2005 release. What's Wrong with Right was released the following year." ~Mark Deming, AMG. A live CD, Music For Ranch & Town, was released unofficially in August of 2007. Their sound, dubbed "Western Soul," culminated in the 2007 nomination for the Americana Music Association Duo/Group of the Year. In January of 2008 The Hacienda Brothers recorded their 4th CD, Arizona Motel, that will be released nationally on June 24th.
Plans are in the works for the band to tour in support of the CD in tribute to Chris Gaffney.
Chris Gaffney lived his life as a dedicated musician with little fanfare or ego. The industry recognition that had so long eluded him finally came with sincere praise & genuine respect for the quality of his work in The Hacienda Brothers. His fans worldwide have overwhelmingly shown their loved & appreciation - the www.helpgaff.com website has raised tens of thousands of dollars before a single benefit show has even been played. Gaff was universally loved for his quick smile, even temperament, keen observations and dry wit. He will be missed as much for those qualities as for his incomparable talent as a singer, songwriter and musician. And I will surely miss hearing the girls scream, "Gaffney! Gaffney! Gaffney!"
Gaff's favorite month of the year? "April, because it always brings hope."
Dianne Scott, Continental Confidential
This past January Chris recorded one last Hacienda Brothers record titled "Arizona Motel" that will be released nationally on June 24th.
April has in the balance of difficult with belssed showered us with more good music and memories then I could have asked for. Nakia & His Southern Cousins had the sold out crowd (4000+) on the edge of their seats during a blistering set which earned two shout outs from B.B. King himself last Sunday at The Austin Music Hall, Thanks to the wonderful staff at Direct Events and all the fans for treating them like they deserve!
You can see the band this Sunday (4/13) at Texas Hill Country Wine & Food Festival but no longer at Ego's, we have moved up and over to MoMo's beginning in May.
Help us congratulate Rosie Flores as host and narrator of the radio documentary "WHOLE LOTTA SHAKIN", written and produced by Lex Gillespie(resides in DC), They have just received THE PEABODY AWARD!!!! The ceremonies will be held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York on June 16th and Rosie will be there to accept the award from TV commentator Brian Williams! We would love to book a few special shows to coincide with the press this honor will bring.

CHRIS GAFFNEY OF THE HACIENDA BROTHERS TAKEN ILL, HELPGAFF.COM INSTUTUTED TO AID MEDICAL EXPENDITURES
TUCSON, Ariz. – The Hacienda Brothers have some sad and unfortunate news to announce. Chris Gaffney, founding member and lead singer, has just been diagnosed with liver cancer. Gaffney had been recording as recently as January but was taken ill in February. He then began an extensive round of tests that led to the discovery of the cancer. Early next month Chris will begin undergoing intensive chemotherapy, and although he has health insurance it does not cover all of his medical costs and living expenses. In order to raise the necessary additional $60,000 a website has been set up by his family . Donation checks can also be written directly to the Chris Gaffney Recovery Fund, 403 43rd Street, Oakland CA 94609.
This summer the Hacienda Brothers will release a new CD, which was recorded just before Chris was diagnosed. A portion of the proceeds from the CD sales will go to the fund. The band is also scheduling several benefit concerts throughout the end of the year to help raise money and awareness for their ailing colleague, so please keep checking http://www.haciendabrothers.com for a complete list of shows.
A way for everyone to assist with raising money for Chris Gaffney is to pass along the website to any of your mailing lists or groups of friends. Remember any size donation is greatly appreciated. This is a very difficult time for Chris and he needs everyone’s support to pull through.

FEBRUARY 2008
To have spent my mother's birthday 2/22 at The capitol hearing Obama speak to Austin in the presence of my 9 year old, Lizzy and Cathy from RajiWorld and so many others in the right place at the right time was incredible. To hear Black Joe Lewis play was brilliant, Thanks to whomever made that happen. Wishing you some moments like this in your life.
2/16- I just read the coolest thing and just want to say out loud one more time, I love living in Austin! Anne Richards was in office when I moved here, out when I moved back to LA and now our Mayor never ceases to make me smile. "Praising his commitment to an environmentally-conscious energy policy, Austin's green-friendly Mayor Will Wynn today officially endorsed Senator Barack Obama for president. "For too long, we've allowed old divisions to hold us back," Wynn said. "Recently I've had conversations about energy policy with presidential candidates from both parties, and I believe Senator Obama is the only person who can move us forward on this critical issue. "Barack Obama gets it."
So if you are anything like me, the political climate effects you where you live if not literally so please think hard and make a choice for our collective future.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
NAKIA’S ANNUAL BIRTHDAY BASH SET FOR FEB. 20 AT JOVITA’S
Nakia & His Southern Cousins to perform at famed South Austin eatery
AUSTIN, TEXAS (Feb. 12, 2008) – To celebrate his 33rd birthday in style, Austin singer Nakia is inviting a few of his closest friends – and anyone else who’d like to attend – to a party on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Jovita’s in South Austin. “Nakia’s Annual Birthday Bash Celebration,” as it has come to be known, kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with former Weary Boy Mario Matteoli, who will warm up the stage for an 8:30 performance by Nakia & His Southern Cousins. The birthday set will feature scheduled appearances by Monte Warden and Cella Blue of the White Ghost Shivers, plus a few other surprises. The show also coincides with KGSR-FM’s highly successful Wednesday night Social Club meet-and-mingle nights at the famed Tex-Mex restaurant.
Not long after arriving in Austin, Nakia began performing as “Vic Odin” in Miles Zuniga’s Small Stars, a clever parody of not-quite-ready-for-Vegas lounge acts. His role garnered him considerable attention and recognition as a vocalist and showman. In February 2007, Nakia released his debut EP, Playing the Cards, to critical acclaim. He formed Nakia & His Southern Cousins to support the album and began making the rounds of area stages; their appearances quickly became known for show-stopping sit-in performances by some of Austin’s best players. ME Television named the band one of its 2007 Emerging Artists and filmed a concert special at the legendary Antone’s – Home of the Blues.
“You can’t fake soul, and on his debut release, Playing The Cards, Nakia proves that he’s the real deal,” praised Singer & Musician magazine. Ed Bailey, vice president of branding for Austin City Limits, said, “No one saw him coming – but they can't forget Nakia now.” And KGSR-FM morning show host Bryan Beck raved, “Nakia's debut is one of the best I've heard in a long time!”
Playing the Cards continues to win widespread praise, most recently being named a 2007 Texas Top 10 in the Austin Chronicle Critics Poll.
“Turning 33 this year is a real blessing,” says Nakia. “I am just so proud to be living out this dream I have had since turning 5 ... to sing songs and perform for an audience. None of it would be possible without this amazing community of Austin musicians. They’re like my second family.”
The KGSR Social Club is held weekly at Jovita’s, 1619 South First St., (just south of the Colorado river). It gives KGSR listeners a chance to hang out with one another and the bands they hear on the station – two per week. Independence Brewery will be providing Austin Amberlongnecks for $2.75. Attendees also get chances to win prizes such as tickets to see Bruce Springsteen in Dallas – an overnight stay at the Omni Hotel included. (For more information about the KGSR Social Club, visit www.kgsr.com.)
Maybe it has to do with the heart but February sees us skirt deep in booking tours for amazing women. We will bring Amy Cook and Anne McCue to the South East in late April/ early May and the west coast in June and The powerhouse team of Rosie Flores with Cindy Cashdollar to the west coast also in June.
Ranch & Coast, San Diego's luxury lifestyle magazine recently conducted a readers' poll in which readers voted on a number of categories in the arts, fashion, dining, etc. A.J. Croce was voted as readers' favorite local musician. Way to go A.J.! We are so excited to present him during SXSW with his full band featuring a rhythm section made up of Elvis Costello's attractions!
Our Austin Music Foundation (AMF), along with Mayor Will Wynn, today announced a month-long series of events and activities that will spotlight musical artists and the significant contribution they make to the Austin community. The program, Love Austin Music Month, will recognize a selection of musicians and venues that are representative of Austin's diverse and vibrant music scene.
It is truthfully only January 22 but feels like March already from where I sit so to compromise I hope you will enjoy your early February update. Tonight sees The Austin premiere of 'Honeydripper,' with Gary Cark Jr., Gotta love a job that has Tuesday night perks like this, speaking of current movies, I highly recommend 'Alvin And The Chipmonks' for a dead on comic portrayal of the music industry and it's age old dark side. Now I can finally write that, "It happened to me" piece. As I mentioned just last update, The Mother Truckers have added new management, publishing, record co an PR (same co.), new band members and now new agents. We wish the the best of luck, It was fun to be there in the beginnings, you only ever get to do that once. And that is why we love March and SXSW so much, the never ending chance to discover! It is what beats the collective RajiWorld heart. Keep tuned for updates of what we love, who you will too and the parties we hope to see you at. For now, here is our official 2008 lineup.

JANUARY 2008!!
Welcome to the New Year! We have high hopes and are working hard to accomplish them early this year. According to feng shui, setting up an achievement corner or wall with your awards and honors can attract more, pay attention early in the year to your goals and dreams and set out to achieve them. We have a few already happening here.
Roggie was asked today to mentor again during SXSW, This is always a very special honor as it is a chance to bring in the next generation of agents and artists. Due to the great teamwork at RajiWorld, Roggie will be able to add a new division soon, This will enable us to produce your event from top to bottom with our favorite local and national vendors. Lizzy has been filling in for Roggie on day to day tour booking and has received many compliments on her work and sunny personality from clients and buyers alike. Cathy has just recently re entered the music business and was pleased to see her name already in print in an industry guide and find her old skills sharper then ever as her intuition kicked in on a deadline. These are survival skills and 2008 will see the return to many basic traits we have let go in the age of all this wonderful advancement. We are proud to combine what worked in the past with all the future has to offer us. Our clients have all been busy, we have a few who are currently extra busy: (Like Billy Harvey who literally GREW this!)
A.J. Croce, A.J. is very proud of his new album, Cage of Muses, in Spring '08. His band includes Brian MacLeod/ drummer and songwriter (Madonna, John Hiatt, Ziggy Marley, Chris Isaak, Tears for Fears, Christina Aguilera), Greg Leisz/ lap and pedal steel, guitar, mandolin, and bass (Tiger Army, Dave Alvin, Beck, Peter Case, Bad Religion, and Robert Plant and Alison Krauss), Davey Faragher/ bass (Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, Sheryl Crow, and David Crosby), and Michael Bizar/ guitar (Phil Lesh, Jon Popper, Mike Gordon, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, and Jon Fishman) Amy Cook Amy begins a new weekly showcase at MoMo's every Tuesday, These will be very special Austin appearances. Billy Harvey, Billy has just released GROW GARDEN GROW which is fabulous and we are planning a special tour to celebrate it and his appearance on several top 10 lists for his last record (2007). Brownout, help us bring 2008 in with Brownout and their brand new release “Homenaje”, meaning “Homage”. They were winners in almost every category in The Austin Chronicle including NUMBER 1! in Top Ten Texas Federico, Our one and only painter Federico has been commissioned on several special projects lately for public consumption with our goal this year for many more. Friends of Dean Martinez continue to garner rave reviews for the music in the multi award winning documentary The Plagues and Pleasures of The Salton Sea Hacienda Brothers were nominated for "Group of the Year", performed live at the Ryman Auditorium for this year's Americana Music Awards on November 1st. Joining them on stage was producer Dan Penn, who helped them sing "What's Wrong With Right". Also on the show that evening, Lyle Lovett, Emmylou Harris, Ricky Skaggs, Bruce Hornsby, Guy Clark, Rodney Crowell, Joe Ely and many more
The Mother Truckers Have had a big year! new members (see above), new manager, label and a lot of touring. Nakia and His Southern Cousins are seeing stars , The debut EP, "Playing The Cards" has been chosen as one the Texas Top 10s by the Austin Chronicle's own Margaret Moser! We will continue to see Nakia on many more high profile events this year as they are by all accounts moving upward rapidly. Pamela Des Barres Our goal is to turn the next generation of college girls onto Miss Pamela's unique brand of feminism, writing and joy, We will be booking her to speak across the US.
You can find the best of lists in this week's Chronicle or online at their website where they are also now taking votes for this year's annual Austin Music Poll. Click here to cast your ballot today and make sure to include your favorite RajiWorld artists in any category you think fits. You can keep the love flowing and be a part of our wishes and resolutions!
DECEMBER 2007
What are you doing New Years Eve? This year we crave an outdoor public celebration, every city has one, This is a link to ours, "Street corners transform into galleries, storefronts into stages. A festival of art, imagination and creativity spreads across downtown Austin." I wish this idea to spread into our collective consciousness in the new year to follow, more art, more creativity and more outdoors! Happy New Year!
We are as excited as you are to hear Billy Harvey's latest and greatest, Grow Garden Grow, you can get it here.
Another tradition we highly recommend is any that features Nakia and Beatles songs together!
NOVEMBER 2007
In the nick of time for holiday parties and festival booking we are proud to bring you Brownout!
Grupo Fantasma's funky alter ego Brownout draws inspiration from a deep well and gives the Afro-Cuban sound of the '70s a face-lift by mixing in hints of hip-hop and soul. Throwback but not copycat retro, their music is timeless and honest, keeping the spirit of 70s afro-latin and funk music alive while honoring their South Texas roots.
Named one of Austin, Texas' 'Best Live Acts' by the Austin Chronicle, Brownout! is an 8 piece ensemble
complete with 2 guitars, bass, no nonsense latin percussion, and the "Best Horn Section" 2 years in a row at the Austin Music Awards.
4 STAR AUSTIN CHRONICLE REVIEW!
4 STARS IN AUSTIN AMERICAN STATESMAN!
This update sees my personal favorite time of the year, my return part time to the office, Lizzy's first RajiWorld trip as a full agent and several of our clients playing a debut festival.
Join Amy Cook, Billy Harvey and Nakia at The South Padre International Music Festival November 2-4.
We love change and grounding in equal parts and the mystery of it in unexpected ways, me for the first time ever by planting myself into slow and steady recovery and Lizzy (RajiWorld's rock) by spreading her wings. We wish Jason (a temporary agent for us) the best of everything as he prepares for big change and beginning in his endeavor and thank him for his grace and help when Roggie needed it most. We are deep in summer festivals for everyone, fall touring for Billy Harvey, Hacienda Brothers and The Mother Truckers and lots of big local shows, privates and holiday parties for Amy Cook, Friends of Dean Martinez, Nakia and Skyrocket. SXSW is already occupying many brain cells and many magic and serendipitous moments.
Dec 1 will see a big event created just for you with love by Lizzy in house and one of my favorite promoters in a partnership with some of the most exciting artists in Austin. It is at Scoot Inn, RajiWorld and iLoveMikeLitt present Acknowledge Me! The premise behind the event is to draw attention to and unify the Austin indie scene.
So far we have 6 zine tables, 10 DIY tables, a few local record label tables, 4 vegan food donations (2 cookie bakers, Nada Moo ice cream, Sweet Leaf Tea), If you are proud of it and no one died to make it bring it one, we can always find more tables :) in fact if you rent tables and want to help us we will say yes.
We still need a few more sponsors... Sponsors receive logo placement on the event website, posters, handbills, and newsletters. Those donating $500-1000 will have banner display space at the event, be included in the above listed advertising, and receive a hand-made sign. Thanks to SXSW for being once again a trailblazer as our first sponsor.

This is the first in a series of CDs produced by the Hacienda Brothers that will feature rare live recordings and studio outtakes. This initial release showcases the band live on one of their early tours of Europe and captures the intense energy of a Hacienda Brothers show. The Bros kick things into gear with an extended version of their instrumental "Railed" and end the CD 14 songs and 70 minutes later with the unreleased Gonzalez show-stopper "Gone". In between there are classic versions of "Mental Revenge", "Cowboys to Girls", "Walkin' On My Dreams" and "Cry Like A Baby". Previously unreleased tracks include Johnny Cash's "Home of the Blues", Johnny Paycheck's "If I'm Gonna Sink" and a new instrumental "Brotherized". This should get you in the mood for songs that were one of my earliest inspirations to to make a life out of helping great songs be heard. Dualtone will release Anchored In Love: A Tribute to June Carter Cash this month. It was conceived and produced by John Carter Cash, the only child of Johnny and June, and features songs written by or associated with the beloved singer, and performed by an eclectic collection of family and friends and luckily John Carter considered me enough of a friend to hear our lovely Grey DeLisle and she was added to the project!
Track Listing: If I Were a Carpenter - Sheryl Crow and Willie Nelson/Jackson - Carlene Carter and Ronnie Dunn/Wildwood Flower - Loretta Lynn/Far Side Banks of Jordan - Patty Loveless and Kris Kristofferson/Keep On the Sunny Side -Brad Paisley/Wings of Angels - Rosanne Cash/Ring of Fire - Elvis Costello/Road to Kaintuck - Billy Bob Thornton and the Peasall Sisters/Big Yellow Peaches - Grey DeLisle/Kneeling Drunkard Plea -Billy Joe Shaver/Will the Circle Be Unbroken -Ralph Stanley/Song to John - Emmylou Harris. (Dualtone)
For some reason each year this time I fall or grow a little, sort of like spring fever but with direction. I meet "keepers", I discover new bands and friends of such grace and substance I tend to forget my whole lucky life has been that way. A basic principle of Lao-tse's teaching was that this Way of the Universe could not be adequately described in words, and that it would be insulting both to its unlimited power and to the intelligent human mind to attempt to do so. Still, its nature could be understood, and those who cared the most about it, and the life from which it was inseparable, understood it best. So to best capture this phenomenon I have decided to share my new pals and finds with you so they may inspire and cross pollinate your world too with their unique magic.
First, he who brought me to the dance, before I came upon music as business I worked in the field of fashion (also Chemistry..next time for that story), My favorite Rock star then was one Manuel and his museum quality creations. A new generation of designers will get to share in his genius with a new program for study called The Friends of Manuel and led by the too darling for words Alice Sells.
I met her at the same wonderful party I met the legendary Dargi of Black on Black Music, graphic designer Pam Esposito who was not only a fan of our own Jesse Dayton but of my new faves The Vaquetones, the adorable Stephanie Langston from News 2, the very talented and maybe soon to be selling his wares in Austin Hap, The Cornbelt Cowboy, the super sweet Suzanne O'Keeffe of the best idea I have heard in a long time. Other memorable days and nights were spent in the company of old friends and a few new and definitely gold (as in records past and future!) ones. I feel blessed to have heard old stories from Gail Davies and new songs from her son Chris Scruggs who brought the whole trip full circle with his upcoming record made out in Tucson! where my whole trip began under the wise words and musical taste molding of Howe Gelb, Thanks again Howe!
Much love to Rosie and Briana, Mike Stinson and Warren Pash for sharing it with me! and to Deborah for pointing me sharply in that direction! Too many happy happenstance moments to count...
APRIL 2007

Austin Music Awards winners
Thursday, March 15, 2007
AUSTIN, Texas, March 15 (UPI) -- British rock icons Pete Townshend and Ian McLagan performed a special tribute to a late colleague at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
Townshend, of The Who and who was the festival's keynote speaker, joined former Faces keyboardist McLagan and his Bump Band at the annual Austin Music Awards for two songs during a tribute set for the late Faces bassist Ronnie Lane.
McLagan released an album last year dedicated to Lane. Townshend and Lane had collaborated on a set called "Rough Mix" in 1977.
by Todd V. Wolfson
They played the "Rough Mix" track "Kuschty Rye" and the Small Faces hit "What'cha Gonna Do About It," the latter of which featured some inspired soloing by Townshend.
Monday, March 12-Welcome to Austin!!!! And the SXSW 2007 fun begins....updates and invitations added daily so keep checking back!
Let's start with one of the best parts of being local (and a mom used to early hours), That is KGSR's live morning broadcast from the Four Seasons. It is a RajiWorld tradition and will be upheld this year by Kathy Valentine (Mon 3/12 at 9 am with Tony Scalzo), Billy Harvey (Tuesday 3/13 at 7:30 PM), Nakia (Wed 3/14 at 6:30 AM) and The Mother Truckers (Wed 3/14 at 8:00 AM).
Billy Harvey by Nakia Reynoso
On Wednesday, March 14, a series of Crash Courses and Music Biz 101 panels present basic information on the music business and Roggie is looking forward to once again being a part of this important part of SXSW's kick off events. She will speak on booking in a panel open to all attendees.
Wednesday night is everyone's favorite with the Austin Music Awards. The Music Awards are presented by The Austin Chronicle and SXSW and co-sponsored by 107.1 KGSR and is a benefit for the SIMS Foundation. This year the poster will be created by RajiWorld's pet painter Federico. Expect a rare performance by Ian McLagan and the Bump Band with special guests and some surprise winners on the arm of Miss Pamela Des Barres and Kathy Valentine. Post show come join us at The 18th Floor, complete with sweeping 360 degree views of the city for the supremely talented A.J. Croce in his official showcase.
Thursday night we kick off early with two of Austin's most talked about happy hours;
We move a mere 3 doors down to The Whiskey Bar (303 W. Fifth St. 512 481-8599 ) for the Official RajiWorld SXSW 2007 Showcase featuring 7 of our acts you do not want to miss;
If we reach capacity like last year, May we suggest making your way to The Broken Spoke for Jeff Hughes and Chaparral.
Keep checking for updates on day parties we recommend. There are way too many to list :)
And because we love you as much as you love our roster, we have listed each artist with performance day, place and time.

JANUARY 2007!
South by Southwest has just announced a forward-thinking and environmentally responsible new energy plan for this year's event!
Beginning this year, SXSW will be partnering with Austin-based renewable energy market leader Green Mountain Energy Company to offset 100% of carbon emissions arising from all SXSW activities - clubs, travel, offices, convention center, etc.
The festival/conference has purchased 376MW of Texas wind energy carbon credits from Green Mountain to offset the estimated 250 metric tons of carbon emissions that will be produced by SXSW this year.
SXSW is also working with Ecology Action of Austin to recycle all waste from their outdoor parties and events and will use biodiesel in generators and production trucks.

Federico Archuleta is often found mid-spray but soon you will have the chance to meet him standing still, We are thrilled to bring our first visual artist to RajiWorld, as you can see he likes music like we do and he has excellent taste. We will present a full art show in conjunction with our annual and not to miss thank you party in March. Stay tuned.
November has been good to us, We also partner with two old friends to bring you two new bands just in time for your holiday parties. Both will have you and your invited dancing non stop. Please take a moment to check out The Hacienda Brothers and Jeff Hughes and Chaparral.
It is not easy to find news to top opening for the Stones in your own city but I have to so let's take a moment before congratulating our other clients for exciting achievements this month to focus on the upcoming elections. Remember we need to keep this part of our world in balance to allow the art a voice and venue. Voter registration deadlines have hit! There're only a few states left that allow voter registration for this November's election.
If you're not registered yet there's no need to worry. You don't need to go to the DMV or the library to get it done. You can register yourself to vote from home right now.
All you have to do is use this online tool and then print out your form, sign it, and mail it in.
November also sees the private party circuit heating up and The Austin Chronicle has just voted our own K-Tel Hit Machine as "Best Reason To Pawn Your Karaoke Machine- That K-Tel Hit Machine is one of the most beloved bands in originality obsessed Austin should be no surprise to anyone who's seen them do "Hot Legs." Or packed into Antone's for their ELO tribute. Or salivated over their looming "Eighties explosion." What started as a goof among friends has certainly grown – have them quote their fee sometime – but hasn't really changed; it's still a bunch of friends, who happen to be some of Austin's most talented musicians, getting together to jam on songs they all grew up on. The songs may be other people's, but what makes K-Tel so delicious is that they do them with a style all their own".
Fast Food Nation the Movie
In theaters in the US: November 17th
And The Official Soundtrack is available on Park the Van Records November 14th! We would be happy to discuss ideas for an event in your area with the band, the film and veggie munchies
Featuring music from: Spoon, Friends of Dean Martinez, Dr. Dog, Nortec Collective, The Capitol Years, La Sinfonia, Elvis Perkins, Robbers on High Street, Secretary Bird, Monsieur Leroc, and The T-Bones.

IAN MCLAGAN & THE BUMP BAND JOIN THE ROLLING STONES
AS SPECIAL GUEST ON "A BIGGER BANG" WORLD TOUR IN AUSTIN, TX
AUSTIN - September 16, 2006 - The Rolling Stones are set for their inaugural performance in Austin, Texas, with 'A Bigger Bang' than ever before, meeting up with their old pal and former keyboardist, Ian "Mac" McLagan. McLagan first opened for the Stones back in 1964 as a member of the Muleskinners. Since then, he's been a member of the Small Faces and Faces, and continues to be one of the most-utilized keyboardist's in rock history. This time, joining Mac to open the show will be his fabulous Bump Band, which features "Scrappy" Jud Newcomb, Don Harvey, and Mark Andes.
One of the recognized masters of the Hammond B-3 organ and electric piano, McLagan has toured and recorded with the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Bragg, and all points in between. Ian McLagan & the Bump Band keep alive the legacy of his former bands, where the raw energy of the music matches perfectly the earthy, real-life lyrics. Austin's favourite British import, Mac moved there in the 1994 and has since become one of the most beloved figures on the local scene. He and the Bumps have released several albums that extend the legacy of his former bands without paling in comparison. McLagan's sixth and finest solo CD, "Spiritual Boy - an Appreciation of Ronnie Lane", is a loving tribute to his old friend and bandmate, and features songs written by this most-beloved musician. "Spiritual Boy" has achieved chart success in Mojo Magazine as well as glowing reviews in Rolling Stone, No Depression, Goldmine, and the Austin Chronicle.
McLagan was awarded the prestigious Ivor Novello Award for his outstanding contribution to British music in 1996, and his outrageously funny autobiography, "All The Rage" is published by Pan/Macmillan. He compiled and produced the Faces four-disc boxed set, "Five guys walk into a bar...", for Rhino/Warner's Records, and was inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame in 2004. He recently received a rare honor on April 6th, when it was proclaimed 'Ian "Mac" McLagan Day' in Austin, Texas.
Ian McLagan & the Bump Band extend a warm Texas welcome in what marks The Rolling Stones' first concert in the Live Music Capital of the World.
Tickets are currently on-sale and selling out fast for the October 22 show in Austin. For Official Rolling Stones tour information visit www.rollingstones.com.
We are out of breath. Here comes ACL fast on the heels of a tremendous time in South Park CO (almost 10, 000 feet high) with Billy Harvey and Steve Poltz as well as many new friends. The low hot steamy landscape of Austin feels like home and we welcome you to share our home with us this week. You can meet us at Mac and The Bump Band's show Saturday, September 16 -Zilker Park - Washington Mutual Stage(3:15pm). I think they have some pretty exciting news about the next show you will catch them at in this same location:)
We love our little city and ask you to please help us keep it special, please bike, share a ride or support our local bus system.
Austin City Limits Festival Shuttle
As part of its commitment to achieving cleaner air in Austin, Capital Metro has been investigating vehicles that use a combination of electric and diesel power. After conducting two separate tests, Capital Metro has decided to purchase six new 22-foot hybrid-electric buses. These buses are 88% to 96% cleaner burning than the EPA 2003 standard for diesel bus engines.
A last minute change of plans saw Roggie attending The Kerrville Wine and Music Festival this past weekend instead of the Club Congress 21st Anniversary party. Now we know why, divine intervention brought her to a packed and captive audience to witness a true Renaissance man come to life. Imagine his white horse as a Harley and his delivery as more Barry White then white folk artist on that famous stage and you can begin to see what Roggie heard. Look forward to meeting our newest addition soon. He will fly in for your festival or private event, he will ride in for your bike fest or roadside attraction and yes he will still play your house concert but stand in line, we have a few folks already asking.. Please meet Michael Lille
We wish our clients fun filled tours all over the US this week! If you are not able to come out we have found a treat for you listen to at home, right now! This is a preview of what you might get at the joint Billy Harvey/ Steve Poltz shows, thanks Ally!

It is with a heavy heart that I add this information here for you. I know if you are checking you feel what we do which is more love then sadness for such a bright light to die on earth but live in heaven. For Kim McLagan from her loving husband Ian "Mac" McLagan- "... She is my shining light and always will be. Her life was a testament to love and healing and everyone who met her felt the glow from this warm, loving and giving being. She means everything to me but I know we'll be together again in a better place. She is a flower and a dream, and finally the Angel she always was...Her family and friends are spread all over the world but the outpouring of love for her is just a reflection of the love she gave. She said, "You get what you give" and as always she's absolutely right.
Kim is an Angel, finally."
Please come join us Tuesday, August 8 to celebrate her life.
If you are unable to join us in person please join the wonderful online community available for you to share your thoughts with Mac. We will be compiling a book of these for him. Mac's Bump Band secretary has a link here.
We have chosen a very important charity in Kim's honor. The Women's Advocacy Project is a statewide, nonprofit, legal organization with a mission to provide free legal advice, expand legal education, and promote access to justice for Texas women and children in need. The Project was established in 1982 to respond to the needs of countless women with questions about their legal rights and now operates six programs focused primarily on domestic violence and family law.

*What's a night! If you missed the Concert For Bangladesh Tribute at Threadgill's last night - it's OK - We got some of it on tape! Check out Nakia's show-stopping rendition of the Billy Preston classic, "That's The Way God Planned It."
The Austin Chronicle's LUV Doctor says, "This singles night has a really kickass cover band, the K-Tel Hit Machine that features A-List performers: Trish and Darin Murphy, Johnnie Goudy, Paul English, Mike Belile, Kyle Crusham, and Benjamin Hotchkiss as well as a sensational opening act, Billy Harvey. If you’re the kind of person who can free your inner dork and totally rock out to pop and rock classics from the Seventies and Eighties, this is your show, regardless of your singularity. Plus, it’s sponsored by Lovers Lane. We may be suspect, but we’d never intentionally steer you wrong."
*THEN.. .Join RajiWorld and the band down at The Beauty Bar for an Aftershow with a very special K-Tel DJ Set!
