CHARLIE TERREL and the MURDERED JOHNS
Some things you just have to see for yourself... and this is where we join him...Charlie Terrell, but everybody just calls him Terrell, was born in Birmingham, Alabama. When he was about eleven his grandmother bought him a guitar. At first, he hated it because he could never play other people's songs, but purely out of frustration, he started making up his own songs. He put together a band and signed a record deal with Giant Records, issuing an album in 1990, "ON THE WINGS OF DIRTY ANGELS". Despite great critical response the album didn't go far. In 1994 a guy from Pointblank Records heard Terrell playing in an Irish Pub and signed him three days later, with the album "ANGRY SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN" soon to follow. "BEAUTIFUL SIDE OF MADNESS" came the following year. At the beginning of '97, Terrell started working on a new record from a short story called "TAKING THE JESUS PILL" about a Southern girl that runs away from her abusive-Preacher father and ends up in New Orleans with a crazy redneck named Johnny 3:16. The two of them get into all kinds of trouble and then everybody dies in the end. It's the classic Southern Gothic. Terrell wrote a series of songs as a kind of soundtrack for the short story and it eventually evolved into a full blown stage play.
As of this moment in time, Charlie is creating in music, art (painting), video, writing and film so stay with us here.. |
