| "Somewhere,
there is probably someone who lived in England in 1960 who turned
down a chance to go to The Cavern Club because he had never heard
of the band. "The band" in question was, of course, The Beatles.
They went on to have a bit of success in the music business; enough
success that the guy who didn't want to go see them play because
he had never heard of them is still kicking himself black-and-blue
40 years later. So when you're trying to decide whether or not
you want to drag yourself out to see some unknown play....just
remind yourself that every musician was once an unknown, and that
every musician who sells out arenas for hundreds of dollars per
ticket once played somewhere for under ten bucks. And someone
who paid hundreds of dollars to sit in the last row of an arena
once turned down the chance to sit on the first row of a small
venue for next to nothing. Don't be this person!" --Bailey

THE LUCKY TOMBLIN BAND
www.luckytomblinband.com
The Lucky Tomblin Band, comprised of some of the best musicians that celebrated music city (Austin) has to offer, has been included on the list of Grammy eligible artists in the following category for the group’s latest CD, Red Hot From Blue Rock: Category 42, #66 - Best Country Album. This dynamic band features an all-star cast of Texas musicians, led by singer/songwriter Lucky Tomblin, that takes the listener on a musical tour of the Lone Star State, where honky-tonk, western swing, blues, rock 'n' roll, Tex-Mex, blue-eyed soul and traditional country music get together for one big Texas celebration! Former San Antonio-based Lucky Tomblin was a regional favorite early in his career and a compadre of Doug Sahm, having opened for the late Sir Douglas on one of his Last Real Texas Blues Band tours.
The rest of the players in the band reads like a "who's who" of Austin's A-list and includes pianist Earl Poole Ball (Johnny Cash, Gram Parsons, Buck Owens, Byrds), guitarist Redd Volkaert (Merle Haggard, Dale Watson, Ray Price), guitarist John X. Reed (Doug Sahm, Marcia Ball, Lucinda Williams, Kenneth Threadgill) and bassist Sarah Brown (Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Dr. John, Billy Bragg). Play this one loud and throw some sawdust on the floor.

MONTE WARDEN
www.myspace.com/montewarden
We are currently booking private events and Platinum Songwriter Events. Warden's biggest success in recent years has been as a professional songwriter, selling millions of records, landing cuts in several movies and television shows, as well as with artists like Kelly Willis, Patty Loveless, George Jones, Bruce Robison, Travis Tritt, and George Strait, to name a few. Warden co-wrote Strait's smash, "Desperately". In the fall of 2005, Warden was awarded his first BMI songwriting award for success in the country field. In March 2006, Warden was awarded the prestigious BMI 'Million-Air' Award, signifying over 1 million radio performances of his song, "Desperately"
It's unfortunate Monte Warden chooses to perform in public so infrequently. In the past several years, the local songwriter has perfected his craft, George Strait taking his co-write with Bruce Robison, "Desperately," to No. 1 on the country charts. With unshakable backing by Lisa Pankratz on drums, Brad Fordham on standup bass, and Colin Boyd on lead guitar, Warden laid out exactly why the Austin music scene needs him to hit the stage on a regular basis. His mix of fervent rockabilly, tender-hearted songs, and country rock jangle, presented in an unassuming manner, hit with a resounding force. Warden's voice remains smooth and unaffected, allowing him to reach all those places, and then there are those songs. One of Austin's all-time favorites, "Just To Hear Your Voice" still sounds warm and inviting. Warden shifted into "Desperately" with stylish simmer and then remarked with a grin, "You have no idea how good it feels to sing a hit." In Warden's hands, Buddy Holly's hiccup, Johnny Cash's gospel, and his own country soul all sounded like hits. - JIM CALIGIURI
Current tour dates:
- We are booking his sell-out Platinum Songwriter's Series on the road in theatres too. The Platinum Songwriter Series is an in-the-round evening of music hosted by Texas Music Hall of Famer & hit songwriter Monte Warden that exclusively features multi-platinum writers performing their hit songs in an intimate setting. Given the abundance of in-the-round writer’s nights for commercially successful writers in Nashville, L.A., & New York, Warden felt it was time to raise the bar for writer’s nights in his hometown of Austin & began The Platinum Series at The Saxon Pub in May of 2008 to sell-out crowds. To insure the integrity of the name of the series, Warden set the strict criteria by having only writers that have at least earned one RIAA Platinum album, which signifies one million records sold, and having written at least one hit on a major Billboard chart. The writers on the show in the first year alone represent over half a billion records sold. In addition to hearing the original way these classic songs were created, listeners are privy to the stories behind the songs they love, as well as behind-the-scenes tales of the music industry, which are always funny, entertaining, and informative.
NAKIA & His Southern Cousins
www.nakia.net
Nakia, who just hit the Austin stages just a few years ago, has racked up a standing-room-only following for his unique and soulful version of southern fried rock and soul, backed by his band, The Southern Cousins and singers, The Fresh Up Girls. One of Austin's brightest new stars, Nakia has already shared the stage with funk-queen Sharon Jones, who says "He's the real deal ya'll, he's got some serious soul." He brought the crowd to its feet during his own set at the prestigious Austin City Limits Music Festival last year - while this year he is ubiquitous at SXSW, with performances at at least 10 shows, including The Austin Music Awards.
Nakia releases his debut, "Water To Wine," on April 7, with reviews already in - "His live performances are akin to a religious experience. With his first full length release ..Nakia captures his trademark soulful, spiritual sound" - from Texas Music Magazine. The Austin Chronicle offers- "“The debut full-length from Nakia proves the Appalachian-born belter one of Austin's most talented singers. Booming, deeply soulful, and accented with the occasional twang, his pipes propel an impressive set of Allmans-inspired Southern gospel."

RICHARD BARONE
www.richardbarone.com
We are planning a tour to include theaters, colleges, bookstores, rock clubs and hotels in every city in the US. Richard has a lot to promote. Being the frontman of a popular band is a high-risk profession. Richard Barone, acclaimed recording artist and former lead singer of indie rock pioneers the Bongos, has survived two decades in the spotlight to tell the tale. From dallying with the glitterati in the trendiest night spots, to learning recording tricks from some of the top names in the music industry, to innovating the intimate chamber-pop genre and emerging as an A-list solo artist and producer, he continues to push the boundaries of modern rock and inventive self-expression. In FRONTMAN, Barone tells his story in a frank and charmingly funny style. We are along for this ride as he recounts the supernova express of New York City stardom and endless parties; sexual politics, divas, disappointments, and drugs; his journey of self-discovery through music; and a lifetime's worth of hard-gained advice for anyone interested in getting into the music business or just surviving in it.
"This is a completely charming and witty look at the frontman phenomenon. It is written by a purist who tells you what it's like to be a true fan in love with the music who then becomes a frontman himself. A very warm and honest look at making and loving music."
--Lou Reed
"Whether fronting the Bongos or his own solo projects, Richard lives and breathes music, and has experienced the world. I've always enjoyed working with Richard and value his ideas and expertise on my own and other projects. Read this book!"
--Fred Schneider, The B-52's
Richard Barone’s new album, GLOW, featuring Gibson's digital Les Paul HD.6x-Pro guitar, is being released as series of 3-song EPs via iTunes.

SKYROCKET (formally K-TEL HIT MACHINE)
SKYROCKET plays AM gold from the 1970's, mixed with a few edgy album rock favorites from the 80's. This seven-piece band takes its name from the series of compilation albums advertised on TV in the 70's, and much of the band's repertoire appeared on those records. What makes K-TEL HIT MACHINE unique is the fact that its members have all been firmly entrenched in Austin’s original music scene for years. You will be proud to tell you friends you hired this band with TRISH MURPHY vocals, guitar, BENJAMIN HOTCHKISS - vocals, conga, glockenspiel, JOHNNY GOUDIE - keyboards, guitar, vocals KYLE CRUSHAM - guitar, keyboards, PAUL ENGLISH - guitar, vocals, MIKE BELILE - bass and DARIN MURPHY - drums, vocals.

SUZANNA CHOFFEL
www.suzannachoffel.com/
Suzanna Choffel literally became an overnight YouTube sensation on October 24, with her "Raincloud" video being viewed over 350,000 times in a 24-hour period. By late afternoon of that day, she was declared "Austin's first YouTube superstar" by Austin American-Statesman music critic Michael Corcoran. Later that evening, Suzanna Choffel's band performed to an overflowing crowd at The Living Room in New York City, showcasing at CMJ Music Marathon 2008. The video has continued to grow in popularity; as of 2pmCST October 27, the number of views for the "Raincloud" video had jumped to over 420,000. The video can be seen here.
Her musical studies combined with her innate sense of rhythmic phrasing, poetic sensibilities, and her naturally smoky voice all work together to create a fresh and unique sound. Suzanna uses her guitar to create staccato rhythms underneath her dazzling soulful vocal melodies, all backed by a pulsing band with unique instrumentation. She has been described as "indie pop with urban beats", and "jazz-infused soul pop" with comparisons ranging from Feist to Nelly Furtado to Norah Jones to Erykah Badu and has been named by many music reporter's as "one to watch". In April 2008, Suzanna Choffel won the $10,000 Grand Prize in the nationwide Famecast Pop competition.
