OCTOBER
2004
For
my clients, our venues, promoters and`our media friends I would
like to introduce Dianne Scott. As most of you know by now we
are trilled to have the experience of Dianne's many years on many
sides of the business contributing to the RajiWorld family. I
wanted to have Dianne "officially" introduce herself
to you and take a moment to explain a portion of our expansion.

Nanette,
Roggie, Dianne
"My name is Dianne Scott and I have been a member of the
RajiWorld team for the past 5 months. I operated my own booking
agency in Austin during the late '80s & '90s, and I have an
extensive background in many areas of the music business, including
publicity & promotions. I have been the PR person for The
Continental Club for the past 10 years. Now I will use that experience
to handle in-house publicity & promotions for RajiWorld. I
am currently compiling a comprehensive Media list of available
outlets including newspapers, magazines, record stores, radio,
television and the internet. If you are a client, I would like
to hear from you about any publicity or promotion opportunities
that you are aware of and would recommend. If you are with a venue
or media outlet, I would especially like to have your input. You
may send outlet and contact information to me at rajiworld@austin.rr.com≈.
Nanette
Scalzo will remain at RajiWorld on special projects and Bill
Elm will take us neatly into the future with better organization
from routing to our upcoming online pages for each of our clients
with full show info and electronic press kits for each of our
promoters. (I feel like I am running for office."a chicken
in every pot ...except at RajiWorld the animals live and we will
actually work through the changes with your feedback considered
at every step).
As
November approaches and our thoughts are filled with the elections
I feel we can relieve a lot of the emotions we feel by getting
involved, Chris Stamey has, We are very proud and I want to share
this with you: V.
O. T. E. Lyrics to PSA written and performed by Chris Stamey
and Yo La Tengo PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF NEXT MONTH
AND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.
We
have just received some fun pictures from our (second) favorite
record store Amoeba.

FODM, Grey & Murray
A.J.
Croce's single, "LYING ON THE GROUND" is to be featured
on CONTINENTAL AIRLINES' "lounge" program this November
& December 2004. I am guessing those are two pretty busy flight
months! Way to go AJ!
SEPTEMBER
2004
Once
again Roggie will participate in the little conference that could,
except last year when we had to choose between it and ACL (with
5 RajiWorld clients playing) it grew up. this year, check out
the lineup of performers for the 2004 Americana Honors & Awards,
scheduled for September 24th at 7:00 p.m. at the Nashville Convention
Center during the 2004 Americana
Conference.
Artists scheduled to perform during the show include Mindy Smith,
Tony Joe White & Shelby Lynne, Steve Earle, Jason Ringenberg,
the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Chris Hillman (with Herb Pedersen,
Bernie Leadon and Al Perkins), Mavis Staples, Rodney Crowell,
Pete Anderson & Michelle Shocked and Slaid Cleaves with Ray
Wylie Hubbard. The show will honor merit and achievement within
the Americana music genre with five annual awards in the categories
of Artist, Album, Song, Instrumentalist and the newly created
New/Emerging artist of the year. Five additional achievement awards
will be presented during the show to individuals who have been
tremendously influential to the Americana genre and industry.
Jim Lauderdale will serve as host for the event.
Roggie will moderate a panel entitled “The Music Conference
– Getting the Most out of the AMA and other industry events”
Planning, networking, learning, being productive. With so many
people, events and performances to choose from in only three days,
how do you possibly make the most of your time at an industry
conference? This diverse group of seasoned professionals will
explain! Moderator - Roggie Lynn Baer Elm (RajiWorld/ RTC Booking),
Andy Flynn (SXSW), Grey DeLisle (Artist), Shilah Morrow (Sin City
Marketing), Nancy Quinn (Dualtone Music Group), Kyla Fairchild
( No Depression).
ACL just ended and in it's third year hit it's capacity of 75,
000 tickets sold. Joy
and Star Kid's Yoga were a big hit in the shady covered kid's
tent.
Patrice Pike has become an ACL favorite and must see for out
of towners. We will have pictures here soon.
We
hope your Labor Day was as fruitful as ours at RajiWorld. You
will soon be hearing lots of news from our two newest additions.
Ian
McLagan and his Bump Band and Tony Scalzo of Fastball
both share a worldwide fan base and each has had unique success
which has helped shape the new songs you can expect to hear on
tour.
